Let's Talk Leadership Communication

Do you know that feeling when you’re in a meeting and you’re thinking: “What’s she on about?” Or: “What’s he trying to say?”

Of course, we’ve all been there, with the speaker blissfully unaware that no-one is following.

As George Bernard Shaw said: “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”

Whether it’s a 5-person team or a global corporation, workplace communication is more important than ever.

In today’s fast-moving, often remote or hybrid work environments, communication is no longer just a "soft skill". It’s a core business skill.

The way we communicate affects culture, trust, and even productivity within organisations.

One study found that 86% of employees cite ineffective communication as the primary cause of workplace failures.

Another survey looked at 400 companies with over 100,000 employees each. What they found was astonishing. The survey found the companies each lost a staggering $62.4 million per year because of inadequate communication between employees.

While according to a 2023 Grammarly Business report, poor communication in the workplace costs companies $12,506 per employee, per year. Multiply that by just 10 employees, and you're looking at over $125,000 in lost productivity and missed opportunities.

That makes this a critical bottom-line issue for businesses.

So, are you costing your organisation money? And what are you doing to level up your leadership communication?
